OU-Tulsa Student Research Travel Award Update

October 08, 2018

Gracen Davis, a Master of Public Health and OU-TU School of Community Medicine fourth year medical student, recently presented her research findings during the Institute for Functional Medicine Annual Conference in Hollywood, Florida.

Gracen, along with Dr. Marianna Wetherill, Hudson College of Public Health and OU-TU School of Community Medicine faculty member, spoke about their research on Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities: Preparing Tomorrow’s Physicians for Lifestyle Medicine Practice. Their poster presentation described nutrition and health-related behaviors of medical students, and how these factors contribute to student knowledge and confidence in counseling patients on lifestyle behavior change.

Gracen’s participation in the conference was made possible through an OU-Tulsa Student Research Travel Award presented during this year's OU-Tulsa Research Forum.

Thank you for your support of this initiative earlier this year!

Travel Award Winners Announced

April 23, 2018

Thanks to your support, three travel awards were presented to student researchers during the OU-Tulsa Research Forum on April 18.

Although the event included many exciting research projects from our students, the following travel award recipients and topics stood out among the others:

  • Gracen Conway Davis - Future Physicians Putting Health into Practice: Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities
  • Ashten Duncan - Hope as a Protective Factor in Medical Student Burnout
  • Alizay Paracha - Project Revive: Using GIS Mapping to Identify Health Trends in Pediatric Population

These students will be applying to conferences outside of Oklahoma throughout the next year in order to present their research to a national audience. Please join us in congratulating them!

Fourth travel award within reach

March 06, 2018

The OU-Tulsa Student Research Travel Awards Campaign will end this Friday, March 9. Thanks to generous individuals like you, the campaign has been a resounding success and has raised a total of $3,800 to date. If we secure an additional $1,200 in gifts by Friday we will be able to award a fourth travel award on April 18.

Please spread the word this week and help us present a fourth travel award. Share with friends, promote on social media and email those you know who may want to help.

Thank you for your continued support!

Third travel award within reach

February 21, 2018

To date, the OU-Tulsa Student Research Travel Awards Campaign has raised $3,430, which is $930 over our original goal. You have been integral to our success and we thank you!

We are excited to announce that if an additional $320 in gifts is received we will be able to present an additional travel award on April 18. This is a wonderful opportunity for OU-Tulsa student researchers.

Please spread the word about this campaign and help us meet our goal of presenting a third travel award. Talk with your friends, promote the campaign on social media and email those you know who may have an interest in student research.

Together we can make an even greater impact on OU-Tulsa student researchers!

We did it!

February 08, 2018

In less than 48 hours, we reached our goal of $2,500! Thank you for making this happen! Because of you, OU-Tulsa student researchers will have the chance to showcase their work nationally. To help benefit more researchers, our campaign will remain open through March 16 with each additional $1,250 we raise helping another researcher present their work nationally.

Almost there!

February 07, 2018

On only our second day of the initiative, we've nearly reached our goal of $2,500. Thank you for helping us reach 94% of our goal in only two days. If you know anyone who would like to help OU-Tulsa student researchers showcase their work nationally, please share the link to this campaign.

Thank you!
