2016 Find Your Future Education Camp
UPDATE: Another generous donor has committed to provide $2,000 in matching funds to help us reach our goal of $8,000! ALL gifts received so far have been matched for double the impact!
51.4% of all Oklahoma public school students are male, yet males make up only 22% of all Oklahoma public school teachers!
Nationally, out of 4.8 million teachers, less than 2% are minority males!
We want to close that gap – and we need YOUR help!
The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education is excited to announce the Inaugural Find Your Future Summer Education Camp! We plan to bring to campus 15-20 minority males who will be entering their junior or senior year of high school in Fall 2016 and who are interested in careers in education. The camp will be held on July 24-29, 2016.
The students will stay in the OU residence halls and participate in a five-day experience in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education to engage with faculty, guest speakers, and panelists. The students will also learn more about OU campus life, resources, admissions, financial aid, and academic programs in the field of education. A critical component of this program is ongoing faculty and peer mentoring to support the students through high school and beyond.
Participants who later attend OU and declare an undergraduate major in education may be eligible for our Debt Free Teachers program in addition to regular scholarship funding. This will be a GREAT opportunity for these young men and their future students, but we need your help to make it happen!
