CIS Scholarships: Expanding Student Access
ACCESS TO THE WORLD
ACCESS TO OU
OU’s College of International Studies: Sending OU Students Abroad and Serving International Students at OU
In 2018, OU ranked in the top 40 nationally among doctoral granting institutions for students studying abroad (of which we had 1483). Keeping the cost of study abroad affordable - a primary objective of the College of International Studies - helps explain this accomplishment, and the College provides scholarship support to many students.
Nonetheless, some students cannot access the education abroad experience because scholarship funds are limited. A core objective of the Access campaign is to add to study abroad scholarship support to bring study abroad within financial reach for more students.
Many international students (approximately 2000, from more than 100 countries) have found their new window to the world at OU. We want to sustain that access to OU for international students by providing additional international student support funding.
The Access Campaign
Your support can make it possible for a student to experience new people and ideas, improve language skills, deepen understanding of the world and enhance their self-reliance, empathy and confidence – all enduring skills that result from the study abroad experience.
International students are, like OU students studying abroad, operating outside their home support network. We want to help them succeed at OU, where they enrich research and the campus environment and, in many cases, develop life-long bonds to the University of Oklahoma.
Thank you for Helping to Expand Access
Our goal is to continue to broaden access to opportunity for OU students here and abroad.
Whether you designate funds for education abroad scholarships or international student support (or either, since undesignated funds will be divided evenly), your contribution to enhancing ACCESS will inspire others to help.
