*Project update* We have reached our initial goal of $2,500 thanks to donors like you!

Our ultimate goal for this campaign is $100,000 for Collegiate Recovery Program development. This will allow for us to lay the framework by visiting other CRPs, find dedicated space, and full time staff. Help us make history by donating today!

Who We Are

Students in Recovery was formed by University of Oklahoma students in recovery in the fall of 2018. Students in Recovery is an organization providing a safe, sober environment for students currently in recovery, those seeking recovery and those supporting recovery at OU. We support all forms of recovery and encourage self-determination and fun in recovery by hosting: sober tailgates, town halls, organized community work and education about all forms of addiction. Currently we host a weekly 12-Step All Recovery Meeting that meets every Wednesday night.

Why We Need Your Help

Colleges and universities can be a abstinence-hostile environment for students in or seeking recovery. In the 1980s, Rutgers, Brown and Texas Tech University formed collegiate recovery programs (CRPs) to support this marginalized student population. Research has shown that students that are in well supported CRPs have higher GPAs, retention rates, and graduation rates when compared to their peers at their host institution. There are now over 400 CRPs nationwide supporting students in recovery with great success. On a campus the size of The University of Oklahoma, there are approximately 400 students in or seeking recovery on any given day. Your investment allows for us to rally behind these students by creating a robust community that supports their recovery, in turn allowing those students to invest in social capital through their academics.

Your Impact

Your donations will help us reach more students and assist in our efforts to implement and develop our own collegiate recovery program at The University of Oklahoma. Your donations will help open the door for students who feel isolated and fearful of pursuing recovery in college and help our community grow. The impact made through your donation will not only help the student's life but also their families and friends. Your investment allows for OU to be a safe place for all current and future students.

*All donations made to our campaign are 100% tax deductible.
