What is the OU Fishing Club?
The OU Fishing Club is a student organization open to all OU students interested in competitive bass fishing. Our club has a rich history and some of the best collegiate anglers in the nation! We compete against other universities in national and state competitions, and do so in true OU form. Since our formation in 2006, we have placed first in the College Bassmaster Classic twice (2013 and 2014), and have competed in several national championships. We have anglers who hope to continue the legacy while competing in the FLW National Championship on the Potomac River in Maryland.
Competition isn't the only thing we do, as we work really hard to build awareness of competitive fishing and promote high school teams across Oklahoma. We take every opportunity we can to volunteer through non-profit organizations such as Cast-4-Kids, Casting Out Cancer, and Hooked On Fishing Not on Drugs. We also like to share our love for this sport with youngsters by hosting speaking days at local schools.
Why do we need your help?
We need your help because, like in any other sport, competition is costly. Members of the OU Fishing Club must provide their own equipment - this is especially costly for those on the team with boats! While tournament entry is usually free to collegiate teams, we must pay for travel, lodging, and equipment. Your help can help us stock up on supplies for the club so that students without proper equipment can still participate.
Thank you so much for your support! See you on the Lake! BOOMER!!!!!
