Huzzah! $7,430 Raised!!!

December 03, 2018

Thank you so much for making our 2018 Thousands Strong Campaign a huge success! Together we raised a total of $7,430 for camper scholarships! We could not have done this without each and every single one of you. Your donation will make a huge difference in the life of a child with type 1 diabetes!

As the 2019 camp approaches, I will update you on how your contribution is being put to work to provide camper scholarships, stock our infirmary with medical supplies, and plan all of the fun activities and games for next summer. In the meantime, please follow us on Facebook at to keep up with what we’re doing! You can also check out our new website at

Thanks again for your terrific support! Happy Holidays!

Giving Tuesday - WE DID IT, BUT WE'RE NOT DONE!

November 27, 2018

Today is Giving Tuesday and we have had some AMAZING donors step up to help us reach and exceed our goal! We've successfully raised $6000 for camper scholarships, but our efforts aren't over - Diabetes doesn't take a break, and NEITHER WILL WE!

Because we only have 3 days left in our campaign, we wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about the 3 biggest takeaways from camp for our campers!

  1. Meeting other kids with type 1 diabetes! Many of our campers are from rural areas, and are the only ones in their school, town, or even county with type 1 diabetes! Camp Blue Hawk provides a place where they can be themselves with other kids just like them!
  2. Learning more about successfully managing their diabetes! For just a 3-5 day camp experience, Camp Blue Hawk SUPER educational. Throughout camp we teach campers what good diabetes management looks like in both formal and informal ways. Whether it's walking a camper through how to change their pump site, or playing a game based on correcting for high or low blood sugars, campers leave camp having learned and practiced so much about good diabetes management!
  3. HAVING FUN! There plenty of things associated with having type 1 diabetes that aren't fun, but Camp Blue Hawk isn't one of them! At camp we go hiking, canoeing, rock wall climbing, zip lining, and so much more! Usually even the most reluctant camper at check-in doesn't want camp to end when its over! There is so much to do and see at Camp Blue Hawk and we pack it all into 5 non-stop days of fun!

We can't say thank you enough for believing in our mission and for supporting our campers! Only 3 days remain - Lets make these 3 days just as unforgettable as Camp Blue Hawk, and see just how much MORE we can raise to help send kids to camp!

Over 70% Funded So Far!

November 15, 2018

In just a little over two weeks we have managed to raise 73% of our goal! We thank you so much for your generosity in helping to ensure that we never have to turn a kid away from Camp Blue Hawk because of their financial situation. Your contribution is so incredibly appreciated.

Yesterday was World Diabetes Day, where all across the globe, and in Oklahoma, people were championing and supporting those who live with diabetes every single day. It has been great to see the outpouring of support for kids with type 1 diabetes from the Oklahoma community through our campaign this month. To see exactly what you are giving to, check out some pics for our previous Camp Blue Hawk sessions here:

Please continue to share the link to the page,  We are off to a fast start and want to keep this momentum going! Let’s get to $6,000! Thank you again for your continued support during this campaign!

Choose a giving level

Crewneck Camper

Your support at this level will cover the cost of a camp t-shirt for a camper. Each year campers receive shirts that have the Camp Blue Hawk logo and theme design on them.

Boredom Buster

Your gift of $25 helps kiddos stay distracted on those rare occasions that they are stuck inside! Whether from rain, illness, or just rest time, activities such as books, puzzles, and cabin crafts go a long way towards keeping campers happy!

Sneaky Snacker

Help us prevent that hungry feeling through a $50 gift! These funds can go toward snacks and drinks to keep campers full and hydrated.

Medical Maverick

Uh oh! Your gift of $75 helps us purchase necessary supplies for the infirmary, not only for diabetes management, but also in case of any slips, trips, or falls!
